What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift — also known as a forehead lift or eyebrow lift — is a cosmetic surgery that elevates the position of the eyebrows and reduces forehead lines, brow creases, and the furrows between the eyes. By rejuvenating the upper third of the face, it can replace a tired, sad, or unintentionally stern expression with a more alert, rested one.

What a Brow Lift Can Address

  • Sagging or low-positioned brows
  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Vertical frown lines (“11s”) between the brows
  • A tired, sad, or angry-looking resting expression
  • In advanced cases, sagging brows that obstruct peripheral vision

Heavy Brows or Heavy Lids?

What looks like excess eyelid skin is sometimes a brow that has descended, pushing skin down onto the lid — and vice versa. The right fix depends on which is happening: a brow lift repositions the brow, upper eyelid blepharoplasty addresses the lid itself, and sometimes the best plan involves both. Dr. Beal will tell you plainly which is driving what you see.

Brow Lift Techniques We Offer

There is no single brow lift — the right technique depends on your anatomy, skin elasticity, hairline, and goals. Dr. Beal performs four approaches and recommends the one that fits you:

Endoscopic Brow Lift

The minimally invasive option: small incisions behind the hairline and a tiny camera to lift and reposition the brow. Minimal scarring and a faster recovery — ideal for mild to moderate brow descent.

Temporal (Lateral) Brow Lift

Focused on the outer third of the brow — lifting the sagging tails that drag the eyes down. Often combined with eyelid surgery or a facelift for a balanced result.

Coronal Brow Lift

The traditional open approach, with the incision concealed along the scalp. It provides the most substantial lift and suits patients with significant brow drooping.

Hairline Brow Lift

The incision is placed at the hairline, lifting the brow without raising the forehead — ideal for patients with high foreheads who want elevation without adding height.

Recovery & Results

Most patients return to work in 10–14 days. Bruising and swelling peak within the first week and subside over 2–3 weeks, with discomfort typically mild and well managed with medication. Final results become visible in 1–2 months and continue improving as swelling resolves. Scars are well hidden in the hairline or natural contours of the forehead and fade over time.

Individualized careEvery surgical plan is individualized, and results vary. A consultation is required to determine whether a brow lift — and which technique — is right for you.

Brow Lift or Botox?

Botox can temporarily lift the brow and smooth forehead wrinkles, and for many patients it’s the right starting point. A brow lift offers long-lasting structural correction — the brow is physically repositioned rather than relaxed into place. Many patients begin with Botox and choose surgery once they’re ready for results that don’t need refreshing every few months. Your consultation will determine the best path for your goals.

Often Combined With

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is the natural companion when both brow descent and excess lid skin contribute to hooding, and a facelift completes the picture when the midface and jawline have changed too. The upper third, treated as a unit, is what keeps results looking balanced.

Common questions

Brow lift FAQs.

How long do brow lift results last?

Results can last 10–15 years depending on your age, skin condition, and lifestyle. Because the brow is structurally repositioned, aging continues from a better starting point rather than erasing the result.

Will I have visible scars?

Incisions are carefully placed within the hairline or the natural contours of the forehead, where they’re well hidden, and they fade with proper care. Which placement applies depends on the technique chosen for you. Healing varies by individual.

Is a brow lift painful?

Most patients report mild discomfort that is well controlled with over-the-counter or prescription medication. Tightness across the forehead in the early days is normal and settles as healing progresses.

Could my brow lift be covered by insurance?

Cosmetic brow lifts aren’t covered. However, when sagging brows are severe enough to obstruct your peripheral vision, the procedure may be considered functional, and some plans may cover it — typically requiring documentation such as visual field testing. Dr. Beal will tell you honestly which category your case falls into.

Can I finance my brow lift?

Yes — flexible financing options are available, and our team will walk you through them at your consultation, alongside a clear quote for your specific procedure.
