Smooth, plump lips with a well-defined cupid’s bow are youthful and beautiful. As we age, our lips develop small lines and wrinkles, become thinner, and the corners of our mouths turn down. At St. Louis Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery, we individualize each patient’s treatment, using meticulous injection techniques to address your needs and concerns.

What can dermal fillers do for you?

  1. Enhance your lip contour and shape.
  2. Add fullness to your lips (pouty or plump lips)
  3. Reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  4. Correct downturned corners of your lips

We want you to leave our office looking beautiful with natural results, your lips enhanced.

What are cosmetic fillers?

Dermal cosmetic fillers are a non-surgical option for facial rejuvenation. They can soften lines and restore volume and fullness to the face. This technique is also known as soft tissue augmentation. Soft tissue augmentation can plump lips, enhance facial contours, such as your cheeks or jawline, and soften wrinkles, helping you look as good as you feel.

In the hands of skilled cosmetic dermatologists, fillers can restore and enhance natural beauty with subtlety and immediate results. By deeply understanding facial anatomy and aging, we can address the underlying causes of facial aging and wrinkles, giving you a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

Today’s fillers are safer, longer lasting, and provide more predictable results than older generations of fillers.

Our expert cosmetic dermatologists will listen to you during your consultation, perform a thorough evaluation, and provide an individualized treatment plan to address your needs and concerns.

What is the Best Lip Filler?

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers (Juvederm or Restylane products)

Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are the most popular fillers used today. HA is a natural substance found in your skin. HA fillers can provide a soft fill that is perfect for your lips. Nonpermanent fillers typically last six to twelve months when used for lip enhancement. This filler can also be used under the eyes for dark circles (nasojugal groove) and around the mouth to provide a more refreshed, natural look.

Common HA products include Juvederm® and Restylane®.

Are cosmetic injectable fillers safe?

All procedures carry some risk. Complications from filler procedures are uncommon when performed by board-certified cosmetic dermatologists.

Possible risks and considerations regarding injectable fillers include:

  • Mild bleeding, bruising, and swelling
    • Under or over-correction of wrinkles
    • Skin nodules
    • Infection
    • Skin necrosis (rare with proper technique and expert injectors)
